Hi all,
Not sure if this is a common issue, but I decided to try SmartConnect for the first time and hooked a few already-installed SMC1X00C series UPSes to the network, signed up for an account, etc.
For one of the UPSes (SMC1500C), a warning was shown on the dashboard saying the battery was due for replacement, with a replacement date of 2019-01-30. Except, the UPS was manufactured on 2023-01-23. And before today, I hadn't changed any of the settings nor connected it to a network. It was purchased new from a reputable source. (Screenshot attached.)
All I'm trying to get a handle on is if this is a common gotcha with this series of UPS. Is there an RTC battery on board (the main battery is kept disconnected during shipping, no)? Or is this a known firmware/initialization bug? (It reports running v 04.1 (1018) [Latest].)
I figure the UPS has to have internal timekeeping as another one gave me an appropriate L.01 alarm just under 3 years post-mfr, despite having been warehoused for a while before I got it.
What's weirder still is that there's no error/warning on the UPS itself. No L.02 message, no lights.
I know I can reset the date manually, so more curious about the cause than it being a showstopper.
Thanks,
Scott

The replace battery message is based on the battery installation date. It’s simply an internal counter written to memory.
There is no RTC . . .
What is the serial number of this UPS as that is the true manufacturer date. On battery cartridge / shell of the battery is also a production date what is it?
