I have Googled as well as searched all over the APC site. What is the part number for the external battery pack for an SMC1500? I can find them for other models (like the BR series), but none that claim to fit the SMC1500. All the SMC1500 writeups mention the fact that one exists but nowhere have I seen a part number.
Thanks!
Les

No problem. Yes, I figured either we had a mistake somewhere or you may have seen mention of the quick battery disconnect and thought that may be the extended battery back connector.
Let us know if you have any further questions on the extended run models after you take a look at the different options. SMX is probably the closest to SMC1500 features and cost though it is a different form factor. SRT/SURT are larger online UPS models that are not really similar to SMC in way of application, cost, etc. An older SUAxxxXL is very close but we just don't manufacture them anymore so you'd have to go used at your own risk. You also don't get the newer style unit with LCD.

Hi Les,
SMC1500 only has an internal battery pack (RBC6). There is no extended run option. There is also no extended battery pack connection on the rear unfortunately. See below
Can you show us any reference you found to extended run for this UPS model so we can see if something needs to be corrected?
Smart-UPS models with extended run options include those with the following prefix: SMX, SRT, SURT, and then the older SUA with XL at the end of the SKU.
P.S. thanks for flagging the spam on the forum here.

Going back and reading carefully, in a lot of ads (example)
It mentions "The extended run models accept external battery packs for long runtime", while it doesnt say this unit is, I 'assumed' it was because the rear picture shows a battery plug. Now that I have searched "smc1500 battery connector" I do see that that is actually a disconnect and not an external plug.
Thanks for the quick reply and sanity check! Will look at the models you mentioned above.

If you replace the INTERNAL batteries with larger capacity batteries will the SMC continue to run until low voltage shutdown, or ignore the battery voltage and shutdown based on time & load? I purchased a BR1000MS and it will ignore battery voltage and shutdown.
I have multiple XL units (love them!) but they are getting scarcer to find. I don’t care if the battery display is correct, just that the run time is extended. I run the UPS well under rated load and can add additional cooling to the H-bridge.
