It sure would be nice if the installation instructions actually contained some instructions!
Where does it say anything in the installation manual or the user manual whether or not:
1. the rear external battery plastic clip has to be inserted or left out to get the unit to operate properly?
2. the face plate needs to be removed and the internal batteries "connected"?
Are first time users of the equipment supposed to be clairvoyant?

The picture on page 4 suggests, if anything, that the plastic clip should be removed and left open.

Sorry for the inconvenience. The installation guide has diagrams on page 4 that show how to connect the battery. The guide does not state that the battery must be connected for the UPS to work however the unit is supposed to ship with a warning sticker attached that informs the users that the battery must be connected.
