SC1500I Data Line Protection

Hi

May i know what level of protection is "Data Line Protection - RJ-45 Modem/Fax/DSL/10-100 Base-T protection" can do? From my own understanding i think it's just filtering/protecting the modem/router/switch hub from the incoming electrical/signal noise. How about from high electrical voltage or direct lightning strike to the LAN/Phone cable.?
