SC1500 and Windows Server 2008 R2
I am trying to use an SC1500 connected via a serial to USB cable to an IBM Server with Windows Server 2008 R2. Device Manager does not show this UPS as a battery. Is this possible or do I need to use the PowerChute Business Edition software?

Thought I'd throw my 2 cents in on this as I had the same issue.
I did install the cable drivers (about three times all told). And also received a replacement cable from APC. Still, our Dell T-310 w/Server 2008 R2 would not stay in communication with the SC1500. Finally APC decided I had a bad UPS and sent a replacement.
The second unit came with a serial to serial cable (which was not included with the first unit??). Since using the serial to serial, I have not had any communication issues. I am convinced it was the serial to USB cable all along. Not necessarily a bad cable, but something in 2008 R2 did not like that configuration.
