Hello-
I have a APC Smartups SC1500 with new batteries installed. This unit is used and receintly purchased. It seemed to work fine over the last 2 weeks until today when it experienced a power outage and provided backup to my NAS server and a couple of switches for about 2hours. However when the power was restored it would not return to online status. After looking in the powerchute software it showed the input line voltage just 85 volts! I tested the power into the unit and it was 115volts. As the APC batteries recharged the input voltage began to slowly climb and after about 2 hours the input voltage in the software rose to 110 volts and then the unit would go on line! Is the charging system bleeding off the input line voltage? And is this fixable?
Thanks

Skip,
When the UPS is charging AC is passed to the battery/s however it would not change the incoming line voltage. If the UPS is in sleep mode the voltage may be affected however once AC has been restored the UPS will come out of sleep mode to begin powering the attached equipment. While in sleep mode the UPS would not provide power through the battery outlets.
If this happens again reset the UPS
1: Disconnect any attached load.
2: Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.
3: Disconnect the UPS' internal battery.
4: Push and hold the "On" button on the UPS for 5 seconds
5: Reconnect internal battery.
6: Plug UPS in to known good power source.
7: Turn UPS on.

Thanks Bill for your reply, I have the UPS on the bench and connected to a PC with Powerchute software monitoring it. It now is fully charged and shows correct line voltage and output voltage in the power chute monitoring software. I plan to put into battery backup and see it I can replicate this issue of the low line-in voltage when recharging the battery after an power outage. If it does so I will reset it according to your recommendations and try it again.
