Procedure. How to send an email alert from a PCNS client.

I hope this will save time for others...

Use Blat32 as the emailing app.

On the local server running Powerchute Network Shutdown 2.25 (PCNS)

1)  Email when communication with the UPS management card is lost.

Configure Events

Communication: PowerChute cannot communicate with the Management Card

Run Command File

Yes, I want to run a command file. Checked

Full path of the command file: C:\Blat32\APC_Comm_Lost.bat

Run the command file only when the event lasts this long (seconds): 0

The command file needs this much time to complete (seconds): 15

Batch File C:\Blat32\APC_Comm_Lost.bat

@START c:\blat32\blat.exe c:\blat32\apc_comm_lost.txt -to admin1@support.ca,admin2@supportt.ca -subject "MHV03 lost comunnications with APC management card"

File to email C:\Blat32\APC_Comm_Lost.txt

ServerName lost comunnications with APC management card.

Please investigate immediately. No further alerts will occur.

2)  Email when communication with the UPS management card is established.

Run Command FIle

Run the command file only when the event lasts this long (seconds): 0

*The Powerchute Network Shutdown service needs to be changed to use Domain Admin credentials, instead of Local System.

To setup Blat defaults on the server for emailing.

blat -install IPaddressOfMailRelay SendingEmailAddress 3
