Good morning,
I have a Smart-UPS APC SURTD5000XLI, the ups work normally when no load is connected, the leds on the front display is fixed.
When I try to connect a load the status bar battery starts flashing, anyone have any idea what can be? Have been replaced batteries.
Thank u!!
Fabrizio

Your state of charge needs to be 100% (it is) and there need at least 30% load (there isn't) for the UPS to do a runtime calibration. Load must not vary significantly while calibration is running.

Hi Fabrizio,
Based on your description, I would take a look at this kbase (FA156538) - http://www.schneider-electric.us/sites/us/en/support/faq/faq_main.page?page=content&country=US〈=en&i...
I'm thinking that when you add load, the UPS doesn't have enough runtime (or doesn't think it has enough runtime) to adequately support the load for a long enough time. We would want to know how much load you are adding, how much runtime the UPS thinks it has, and what your low battery threshold is set at.
If you have different symptoms or the kbase doesn't help, we would like to see the logs from your network management card in the UPS (search for FA156131) and a picture of your UPS display if possible.
Thanks,
Tommy

Hi,
The screenshots show that without load the UPS has 42 minutes 14 seconds of runtime. With load the runtime drops to 21 seconds. That is insufficient time to power down a computer system. You should read Kbase FA156538 “Why are the battery charge LEDs flashing on a Smart-UPS?” If the batteries are new you should perform a runtime calibration as described in the Kbase.

Hi Bill,
I performed the manual runtime calibration with about 15% of load, when the battery is at 100% I performed a self-test and the charger battery leds start flashing again and the run time is about 2 minutes!
Can I try to replace the battery carriage?
Thanks

Hi,
If the batteries are not new then yes, replacing the batteries should help. The unit with no load should show hours of available runtime not 42 minutes.

Hi,
I have replaced the battery carriage but immediately the charger battery leds started flashing again!
If I do a self-test, same event, battery leds flashing and "bip bip bip bip"...
At the moment I keep the batteries with the connected load and I check tomorrow.

Hi Fabrizio,
Sorry to hear you are having more issues.
A few questions-
What is the runtime listed in the network card now that you replaced the batteries and let them charge?
Did you replace these batteries with genuine APC ones (if so, what's the serial number on it) or third party batteries?
Do you have external batteries connected (and if so, did you replace those as well)? I see in the screenshot none were configured, but I figured I would ask.
If the estimated runtime is still the same and you replaced the batteries with genuine ones, I would recommend a runtime calibration. Instructions are in the kbase listed before.
Thanks,
Tommy

Hi Tommy,
the runtime remaning is the same:
If I try a runtime calibration, the ups refused this action:
I have replaced the batteries only with genuine APC ones and there are not external batteries connected on the ups.
Wait for your response, thanks
Fabrizio
