Hi,
I have a brand new APC SUA1500I smart UPS. It is connected to a DELL PowerEdge SC440 server.
I have installed and configured the PowerChute Agent, Server and Console as instructed. Set the shutdown time as 'shut down after one minute'
The shutdown was performed perfectly as expected when I tested by turning off the main power to UPS.
But the problem is after turning on the main power to UPS, If I try to start the server it does not turn on.
Also, the LEDs on UPS front panel keep on blinking one by one.
Can anybody assist?
thank you,
Thomas

Thomas,
When PowerChute shuts down the system it also sends a shutdown signal to the UPS. The UPS will wait a few minutes and then on into sleep mode for roughly 9 minutes and then power down completely. If power is restored when the UPS is in sleep mode it should turn itself back on and begin power the server. If it is not doing that then there is an issue with the UPS.
Again, once the server is off PowerChute is no longer running and cannot control the UPS or the server.

Thomas,
When all of the LEDs are blinking in sequence (top to bottom) that means the UPS is in sleep mode. The UPS will not provide power to the server when in sleep mode. Be sure the UPS is connected to good AC power source. The On line LED should be lit and the battery charge LEDs should be lit. See knowledge base document FA156545 for more information concerning Smart-UPS LEDs http://www.apc.com/site/support/index.cfm/faq/
BTW, the server not powering up has nothing to do with PowerChute. Since the server is powered off the software cannot run / is not running.

Hi Bill,
Thank you for the reply. The problem is happening only after a shutdown through powerchute.
To confirm this I tested the UPS by manually shutting down the server when UPS is on battery.
Then turned on the main power and started the server. this time it worked fine.
Also tested after connecting to a different, good Ac power and still the result is same as before.
For your Info, I am using USB cable - 940-0272A.
please advise.
thank you,
Thomas
