Powerchute wont shutdown pc if a user is remote desktop'ed in
Hi,
There is a bug/malfunction with the powerchute personal edition software which results in it failing to hibernate/shutdown the pc if a user is logged into that pc via remote desktop.
This is a frequent scenario with a home server. In my case i have a Back-UPS CS 650 protecting a windows 7 home server pc.
I may be remote desktop'ed into the machine from another computer - if i am logged on and a power failure occurs, the powerchute software will count down to shutdown but then fail to shut down with it permanently stating < 1 min to shutdown.
The problem also affects a normal non server windows 7 machine as another PC of mine has the same issue if i am remote desktop'ed into it.
Due to the fact this can leave a machine completely unprotected from power failure - with it unable to shutdown, i have been forced to uninstall the powerchute software, and use the windows built in battery power management - at least that can shutdown the computer!
Can someone from APC urgently look into this - it has been a problem for well over a year at least and was just ignored when a previous user brought it up because he was using windows server 2008. Well i can tell you now its not just windows server, its windows 7 and also probably vista.
As it stands this problem renders the powerchute software worse than useless - leaving your machine effectively unprotected from power failures.
