Powerchute Client

We have a Smart-UPS X 3000: APC UPS with a management card. Under configuration -> Powerchute clients I have added my servers.

Does software still need to be loaded on those machines, or by adding them here does that take care of this?

And can I get a link the the latest?

Thanks,E

you can go to a web browser either on that system or remotely and go to https://127.0.0.1:6547 or if remote https://:6547. you should get a log in page as long as the service is running.

i thought the shortcut in the start menu would automatically pull up the default web browser at this URL but i haven't installed PCNS locally since version 2.2.X.

Yes it helped alot. The only question I have now is once I have installed and configured the PCNS software, where do I go to simply launch the gui.

The shortcut that the program leaves always starts it with the cfgwizard. Honestly running this on Server 2008 R2 is a pain, but I got it to work and configure and save the settings.

I want to launch it just to see how the client is doing.

yes, you still need to install the software in order for the software to initiate a shutdown on your systems. without it, there will be no way for your servers to interpret the shutdown signal from the network management card in the UPS.

the latest version of PCNS is 3.0.1 I think. i don't know what operating system you have but start at http://www.apc.com/tools/download/index.cfm and go to the first drop down list "Filter by Software/Firmware" and choose Software Upgrade - PowerChute Network Shutdown. When you download it, there are install guides but there is also a wizard that walks you through set up upon install.

hope that helps you get started.
