Hi all, im almost there i think in terms of the config but im unable to get the VM's / host to shut down when on UPS. I can acess the PCNS and such and configured but i cant seem to shut down the machines. Ive attached some screen shots. thanks in advance. the 156.60 is the host BTW. Think it has something to do with port 3052

hello, we have this in KB
From FA159688 on our knowledge base:

In order for PowerChute Network Shutdown to be able to shut down the virtual machines (VM) on VMware ESXi or ESX, you need to configure a "Guest Shutdown" on each VM and VMware tools needs to be installed on each VM.

NOTE: If the host is configured in a High Availability / Cluster Environment shutdown of the VMs is disable. For this configuration please review FA159784

To configure guest virtual machines (VM) to shut down with the host:+

1. Go to the vSphere Client, and for each ESXi host, select "Virtual Machine Startup/Shutdown".
2. Change the Virtual Machine Shutdown setting from "Turn off" to "Guest Shutdown".
3. Specify the shutdown order, by arranging guest VMs in "Startup Order". (Shutdown order is the reverse of startup order).
4. Click OK to accept the changes.
5. Change the "Any Order" option to "Manual Startup" for all the VMs.
6. Change the "Startup" settings to ""Disabled"" for all the VMs.

To configure guest VMs for manual startup:*

1. Go to the vSphere Client, and for each ESXi host, select "Virtual Machine Startup/Shutdown".
2. Move all guest VMs to "Manual Startup" from ""Any Order"
3. Change the "Startup" settings to "Disabled" for all VMs.
4. Click OK to accept the changes.

Thanks that seems to work now when the UPS is running on battery. However the shutdown isnt a soft shutdown it powers all VM's and the host off at the same time. Any ideas? thanks in advance
