Hi, i have an APC online ups and was provided with a serial to serial cable to connect with my pc. These days we do not have serial ports on our computers.. so i purchased a USB to serial cable for my UPS - SRC1000UXI
When i load the powerchute business edition software, it does not find my ups.. i put the USB end to my laptop and serial port end on my UPS..
what should i do?.. the software is not detecting the UPS..
please help.. thanks..

can you verify your USB to serial adapter is installed properly? These usually require drivers to operate. have you tried auto-detect and specifying the particular com port? i would first verify your UPS is communicating with your computer properly before we go with business edition. this means ensuring that USB to serial adapter is working properly.
i am not familar with this UPS in particular here in NAM but you should be able to use terminal emulation with something like hyperterminal or putty at 2400 and connect to it with the appropriate COM port for your USB to serial adapter and then issue commands to it like holding the shift key and pressing Y to see if you get a response.
if we can get this working, then business edition should work, we just might have the wrong COM port or auto-detection isnt working properly.
