I had my Backups RS 900 connected to an older machine for several years. And have been using Powerchute Personal all that time with no problems. Now I have bought a new HP Omni 27-1054 running Windows 7 Home Premium and the Powerchute Personal will not function correctly. When it runs, it is in the System Tray with an exclamation point saying it cannot communicate with the UPS. And on reboot, it fails to load at all. If I open the program, and reset it to run on startup, it does that once on reboot. But after that, it starts the failure to run, and/or can't communicate again. Anyone know what's going on, and what I can do about it? Thanks.

can you provide any screenshots? does it say anything about "PowerChute has stopped working?"
this came to mind at first:

but it could also be something like this, which it should pretty much be the same even though it does not specify windows 7:

i just need you to clarify if the program runs but it cannot communicate with the UPS or powerchute won't load properly at all. my next question/comment would be that we would need to narrow down if its the OS/USB cable low level or issue or if that's working fine and its just powerchute not talking to the UPS even though Windows 7 is.
