Hi,

I need some help!

I have 14 servers with windowws server. 13 windows server 2003 and 1 windows server 2008. All are virtual machine. (VMWARE).

1 physical server control vmware.

I have 2 nobreak APC Smart UPS 3000 XL.

I need use powerchute for shutdown my servers. I dont have any cds for configure the powerchute.

I've put the usb cable nobreak the server. dipositivo appeared a stranger. What do I have to drive to install to detect the UPS and install PowerChute. How do I do that you install??

no, generally they are only shipped in units of 5000VA or higher. for smaller units, they are an additional accessory. some SKUs do come with them though. if you can give me the exact model # of the UPS off the white sticker on the back, i could be 100% sure and let you know.

Right. I put the usb cable from the server and appeared nobreak unknown device. How do I do to install the server uninterruptible power supply, so that I can access it and install PowerChute and agents on the servers? thanks

here is some information for you to read up and get an idea of whats required.

1.) Here are the available versions of Powerchute -> [Click here|http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=127]

2.) Powerchute network shutdown has installation guides to help you about there are also some APC knowledgebases: [installing PCNS on VMWARE|http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10330], [a bunch of helpful documents here|http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SEPCNSHV&tab=documentation], and then search our [APC knowledgebase in general for VMware issues/concerns once you see if your system is supported|http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/list].

3.) A [Network management card|http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=98] is required to be installed in a supported UPS to use Powerchute Network Shutdown.

Hi,

There is no way I install in virtual machines with no windows server? It must be in VMware ESXi?? Install 2 nobreak in a physical server and the agents to give the servers shutdown windows server?? It has an easier way?

if you are using VMWare ESXi, you need to install a special, dedicated ESXi version of powerchute on your barebones ESXi system. then, for your virtual machines, if they are bridged to the network, you can install the regular windows PCNS on them OR use VMWare tools I think to tell them to shutdown when the ESXi OS is running.

this entire solution should NOT involve a USB cable. the network management card is required and talks to the VMware/virtual machines over your network.

you need to have one of these inside your UPS which might be something you need to purchase.
