Hi guys
Usually I work with VMware environments and I really like the PowerChute Network Shutdown appliance for VMware because you can do all the fancy stuff like shutting down or powering up VMs in a certain order.
So a while ago a customer asked me if I could help out with Hyper-V and I told him yes for sure. After installing the Software on each of the two Windows Server 2012 R2 Hypervisor hosts I connected both to the UPS. When I opened the management gui of PowerChute Network Shutdown I was suprised though because I could not find the section "host protection" and "vm priorizitation".
I know that there is also Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) which is more a less like VMware vCenter BUT the customer does not have this.
Questions
1) The situation I mentioned above, is this accurate, so is it true that with Hyper-V I do not have these capabilities?
2) Is there a difference if we would use SCVMM and PowerChute Network Shutdown in terms of more capabilities?
3) If we do not have the same capabilities in general how do you resp. APC advice people with Microsoft Hyper-V to properly shut down VMs in a certain order and start them up again?
Thank you very much for your help

Not that includes VM prioritization.

Microsoft offers an FAQ that provides a scripting method. https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Shutdown-AllVmsInRightOrder-1b7431d7
If you run a search on "script shutdown virtual machine hyper-v" you will find many other articles.
