PowerChute Business Edition 9.5 Event Log in text format

Hi Guys,

I have recently installed the software PowerChute Business Edition 9.5 successfully.

I have 2 questions regarding the customization on this as per our requirements.

1. I can see eventlog file with extension (File) in the path "C:\Program Files\APC\PowerChute Business Edition\agent" Can anyone please advise what changes that I have to do to make sure that the eventlog file will be saved as eventlog.txt by default ?

NOTE: I can successfully export the events as eventlog.txt by the application. Here the point is I do not want to do manually, i want the eventlog file store as .txt format by default.

2. Secondly, In the "Event Configuration" of  a webpage, I can only see "Low Battery" and  "Time on Battery Threshold Exceeded" under Critical and some other events under warning and informational. But I believe all events are not covered under these 3 sections. How do we add an event in one of these sections and move one section to another section ?

Please asssit ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

Vijay

Powerchute runs as a service in Windows systems. Monitoring started and stopped is the software reporting that the service has started or stopped.

Have you reviewed SChneider Electric FAQ FA168226 it will help with writing and running command files with PowerChute.

I can see an event "Communication not established" was fired by the software and can see in the eventlog but why can't I see the same event in any of the categories (Critical, Warning, Information) at my end to configure, you can refer the screenshot that was sent earlier.

Most events are only made available once communications has been established. Your system is unknown and therefore the software does not know what events to display. What is the model Smart-UPS, what cable is attached between the UPS and computer, and when installing is the UPS automatically discovered or are you selecting a method?

I really appreciate if you can give me any tool or software or technique that can convert the eventlog .file extention to eventlog .txt extension.

Sorry but that is not available.

Thanks Bill for the reply,

Please check the attached screen shot for the events that I can see now.

Will you please confirm, Can we see only these events for APC Smart-UPS C1000I SMC1000I ? If not please advise how do we get other events displayed in this Event configuration section.

Because "EventMappings.ini" under the folder "Systemlogger"  has more events listed.

Kind Regards,

Vijay

Hi,

The screenshot indicates that PowerChute cannot determine the UPS type. In the upper right you see Unknown Device so PowerChute gets set up in simple signaling mode. When configured with simple signaling PowerChute only recognizes 3 states.

Simple signaling is the recognition of whether certain pins of the serial port are high or low. The stats are on battery, low battery and UPS turnoff.

Is the OS Windows? If so what happens when you install PowerChute and allow the software to auto detect the UPS? Another question is, what cable is connected between the UPS and computer.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the reply. Please note that I am using Windows 7 32 bit OS.

As my screenshot displays in Information category, I can see Monitoring started, Monitoring stopped events.

I have selected the CMD files to execute for this event in the event configuration successfully. But I can only always see Monitoring started event cmd file executed and Monitoring stopped event cmd file never executed. Even though I have tried to use the same CMD files for both events and also tried with different cmd files but the result is same.

Is this a known issue ? Do you have fix for it ?

I can see an event "Communication not established" was fired by the software and can see in the eventlog but why can't I see the same event in any of the categories (Critical, Warning, Information) at my end to configure, you can refer the screenshot that was sent earlier.

I really appreciate if you can give me any tool or software or technique that can convert the eventlog .file extention to eventlog .txt extension. That would have solve my requirement straight away ๐Ÿ™‚

Kind Regards,

Vijay
