Dear Forum members, I have a rack mounted SMX2200HV Smart UPS but it's internal batteries runs out so first than before, I wish to buy an external power pack and connect it to this device, May I know if this is applicable? if yes which model should I go for? Thanks

The APC product page for the SMX2200HV lists the SMX120BP external battery pack (under Options / Batteries / Smart-UPS Battery Systems). Is that the sort of thing you were asking about? Or do you mean that the battery in the SMX2200HV doesn't last as long as it used to? If that's what you meant, and the load has remained the same, then you might just need a replacement battery, which would appear to be the RBC143.

The SMX120BP I linked to in my first reply seems to be the official way to add battery capacity to your UPS. If the internal battery pack is bad, you should probably replace that first to see if you get sufficient runtime that way. If you're talking about adding a bunch of generic non-APC batteries, that wouldn't be warranted/supported by APC. [I don't work for APC, by the way.] I would caution you that your UPS has a high-voltage battery bus that can be dangerous if you come into contact with it while energized.

Thanks Terry, Actually i wanted to know whether this type of UPS accept external battery packs, if it does, how can i get it and how do i hook it to the main UPS? otherwise if thats not possible i will go for the option of replacing the batteries in the internal cattridge.
Regards, Henry
