HI,
I have been running my SU1000inet for some time now with no problems.
Today i got a AP9606 card and have tried to install it, but the LEDs do not light up.
I have downloaded the installation guide and followed the instructions but still no luck.
I found a thead on this forum that suggested in addision to the install guide instructions i should reset the UPS.
These are the instructions i fond on this site.
"1. Turn Load/UPS off.
2. Disconnect UPS from utiliy power
3. Depress TEST button for 4-6 seconds until you hear a click and the front LED's flash
4. Install card
5. Turn UPS/Load on."
Is there anything i can do to test if the card is working corectly, or any other suggestions of how to get it working?
Thank you...

Welp, one of two problems exist. Either the smartslot is bad on the Smart-UPS, or the AP9606, which has been discontinued for over 4 years...is bad.

Hi Notorious,
I tried it that way and the way i said in my post...
Iv not used HyperTerm on it yet, i have just finished making a smart cable...
its plugged into the serial port on the UPS and my PC, should i be terminaling to it?
There are no LEDs lit up. even after I plugged the eth port on the card into my hub.

The status LED on the card should be at least green, regardless of internet connection.
For Hyperterminal, 2400, 8, 1, none and no flow control should connect you. Press enter to see if you receive anything.

Doc...
The correct steps for reseating the card are as follows:
1. Turn Load/UPS off.
2. Disconnect UPS from utiliy power
3. Depress OFF (not TEST) button for 4-6 seconds until you hear a click and the front LED's flash
4. Install card
5. Turn UPS/Load on.
What are the port settings you are using for Hyperterminal? If you hit "Restore Defaults" then change the baud rate to 2400, and then press Enter, you should get a Hyperterminal response.
If not,
What LED's are lit on the card when it's installed, if any?

Another thing this customer can try is to acquire an AP9600 smartslot chassis, with external 24VDC power cube/supply...and connect it to the SU1000's UPS management port. If the UPS does have a faulty internal smartslot, and is out of warranty, this might be a cheap workaround.
Good luck,
Dave
