Piggy Backing UPS Units

I'm sure this has come up many times before. Searches have turned up answers directing to a kbase article that I have not been able to access for several days now. This is one of the answers I have turned up. http://forums.apc.com/message/22738#22738 That kbase link is dead so I am asking again. I have inherited a new client that appears to have quality gear, but has been deployed in an improper fashion. The basic scenario is that they have an APC-2200XL UPS that has every port full of equipment. Upon closer examination I have found that a CEN-UPS1250 with a high wattage commercial AV power amplifier is plugged into the APC-2200XL UPS. There is also a smaller UPS and two PDU units plugged into the APC-2200XL UPS. All outlets on all UPS systems and PDUs are all full. Is this CEN-UPS1250 (with amp) and other UPS device plugged into the APC-2200XL UPS a big no-no? I have already ordered an APC SMX2200RMLV2U X, and an electrician to convert two unused dedicated 30 amp circuits to permit plugging the CEN-UPS1250 and other UPS into direct AC power. I just want to justify my actions. Equipment is getting damaged when there are power anomalies and nearby lighting strikes. Thank you.
