We have a Server 2003 SP2 server running Powerchute 9.0.1, the PCBE Agent service stopped running due to the executable being missing (pbeagent.exe), I attempted to reinstall the Agent using the same pcbesetup.exe that was used to originally install the software but encountered the message in the subject every time. I ran through troubleshooting found on your forums to remove the Agent install manually and rebooted the server but I am still unable to re-install the software. When I run pcbesetup.exe it lists the Windows Agent as being 'Not Installed' but nothing I do seems to allow me to install it!!
Please help!!

Followed the steps and none of those folders or registry entries still exist on the server. Yet I get the message, after running uninstall and rebooting the server, that the uninstall of Agent isn't complete and I'll need to reboot my server. "The PCBE Agent service uninstallation has not completed. Please reboot and run the installation again."
Is there another reason for this message to appear.

can you please tell me which steps you did specifically for manual removal? manual removal generally consists of removing registry keys and a few other things which i didnt think all of those registry keys were posted anywhere on our forums.
if you did not find the correct instructions, we'll have to get those to you.

Hi, thanks for the reply. From memory I think I followed the removal instructions at http://www.mydigitallife.info/remove-and-uninstall-apc-powerchute-business-edition-agent-server-and-...
If you can send me the instructions you recommend for completely removing the software so I can re-install the Agent it would be much appreciated.

You should search the registry for APC to be sure all entries have been removed. In the past when users have seen this issue the cause has been that the uninstall key has not been removed from the registry properly.
Note, you should back up your registry before making any changes. How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
