Hi,
My 4-5 year old Smart-UPS 620 is on a second battery life. It is backing up my desktop and monitor. Last several days it has died instantly on me - everything went off, like the power plug was pulled. The power supply had no beeps, signals, etc. it just went dead as well. Everything restarted when I powered it up again by pressing "power" button.
Can anyone suggest a diagnostic for this? Do I need a new battery maybe?
Thanks

Hi aleksl,
I would suggest installing PowerChute Business Edition (PCBE) and see what the battery charge and voltage are reporting as. You can also run a Self Test from the software to see if the battery is able to hold a charge and if the UPS can transfer to and from battery. If the battery looks good and the unit is not overloaded then you will most likely need to replace the UPS.
Do you have any other units of the same model UPS? If so you could swap the batteries around and do a pull plug test (just unplug it while on with a load) and see if it works then.
