New User Questions
Hello and thanks for taking your time and reading.
i currently have a Smart UPS RT 6000 setup. We have about 20 different VMs running though vsphere. I went around and installed PCNS on all the VM's and configured them to point to my UPS. Everything seems to working there. But I have a ton of questions and I am not sure if I set this up right.
I know I should also install sometype of software on my ESXI hosts but from my reading they should be fine in the event of a power failure its mainly my VMs that I am worried about.
So do I need to do anything else once I have PCNS installed on my VMs? If a power failure happens will the UPS send a command to the VMs and just tell them to shutdown? Then when the UPS is back online will it tell the VMs to come back online?
I have been banging my head against this for sometime now and I have never worked with either softwares prior to this. Any and all help/pointers would be awesome.
On a side note, I noticed their is powerchute business edition? Is there just a more advanaced package of powerchute? Is it something I must have or can I get away with using PCNS? Thanks again!
