Hi,
I've installed a new SMT1000I UPS today and it worked fine for the first few hours. Then, all of a sudden, it started switching to battery very often (i.e. every few minutes) and clicking repeatedly. At first, I thought it might be an input power problem, but I have another UPS (SUA1000I) on the same circuit that is also set to high sensitivity and did not bother to switch to battery. Nevertheless, I decided to set the SMT1000I's sensitivity to "Low" to narrow down the problem.
Just a few minutes after I made the adjustment, the red warning light came on along with a continuous beep... The display said "Warning state". I've had an older Smart-UPS do this continuous beep in the past, and it meant "I need repair" - is this still true? Maybe APC should perform some more burn-in testing on these units... really frustrating to have this happen after less than a day.

The replacement unit arrived today - that was quick. And so far, it seems to be working fine. That means it has already outlasted the first unit...
The only thing I noticed is that once the UPS goes into green mode, the slight humming noise of the transformer changes into a staccato-like noise, i.e. it sounds like the flow of current is interrupted in intervals. Hopefully someone can confirm that this is normal for green mode operation?

Never mind - I've been on the phone with tech support and they instructed me to connect the UPS again without any load. After the self test, it immediately started beeping again and showed "AVR Relay Weld"... so it's toast after not even a day of use. At least I'll get a new replacement directly from APC that will hopefully work.
