Hi All,
I am the happy owner of a brand new SMX3000HV to which I added an (new as well) NMC3 AP9640.
The UPS is running firmware 15.0 and the NMC3 card is on the latest firmware (2.5.0.6)
Everything works fine -BUT- I cannot set the NMC3 card to GMT+1 (Berlin, Paris, etc...). The card seems to accept the GMT+1 setting just fine but the following day it's back to GMT-5 (Eastern Standard Time).
I am using this procedure to set the timezone using the NMC3 UI:
Login -> Configuration -> General -> Date/Time -> Mode.
From there, I set:
- The Timezone to "01:00 hour (Amsterdam, Berlin, Rom)"
- Synchronize with NTP server - I've added my two NTP servers.
Then I press 'Apply'.
If I log off and come back to that area of the UI, the TZ shows GMT+1 but usually within the next day or so it will revert to "-05:00 hours (Eastern Time).
Any ideas? Might there be a problem with the AP9640 card itself?
Vincent

Set the time and DST if applicable for the NMC and save the settings. Reboot the NMC through the web interface. Unplug the Ethernet cable to the NMC and wait a few days.
Using the supplied APC Serial cable connect to the NMC / UPS. What does the system indicate is the date & time?

Sorry for the late reply, I had trouble where I had placed the NMC Serial Cable (mini-USB, apparently).
from the NMC, here's what I see:
=============================
apc>date
E000: Success
Date: 08/03/2024
Time: 08:51:34
Format: mm/dd/yyyy
Time Zone: -05:00
apc>date -z +01:00
E000: Success
apc>date
E000: Success
Date: 08/03/2024
Time: 14:54:28
Format: mm/dd/yyyy
Time Zone: +01:00
=============================
Is there a way to set it to CEST? (it's not GMT+1 half of the year).

I can login via serial on the AP9640 Card and set the time using the 'apc' user:
"date -z +01:00"
but if I log out and log back in the timezone is back to GMT -05:00 (this is east coast for the americas).
Is my AP9640 defective?

I found out the root cause of the issue, I had not changed the hostname of the 'apc9640' card, it was still set to the default (apc8E7116), Once I changed to a different hostname then the timezone started being saved...

I was mistaken, the clock is still back to GMT-5 after some time.
