We have a plant that has an existing MacMini running Yosemite, that runs PCNS to listen to 3 UPS and run a script that delays and sends commands to shutdown networked assets of a high end media RAID. That system has been in place and working since @2015.
We have purchased another similar RAID and MacMini that is running Sierra. I am told the PCNS will not run on that platform. However, I was able to install the software and am seeing the four new UPS.
Please explain what the limitations are for running PCNS on Mac OS/Sierra,,,and,,,,what are the limitations/compatibility matrix of running older versions of PCNS/MAC with newer 3-phase UPS and PDU.
Is there any combo of newer MAC and PCNS that will run?? Or the other way,,,older MAC and newer PCNS
Thank you

Hi,
I suggest looking at APCUPSD.org or Network UPS Tools. They offer source code that may be of value.

Bill
Thank you. We are trying to ascertain options that might be usable on a Raspberry Pi or other -ix platform rather than Mac.
I am not a programmer, but would need to provide an SOW to a contract software apps developer. Lot of work for a one-off situation.
Can you provide any guidance??
