Hi,
today I just wanted to install my AP9631 which I ordered at ebay. So I plugged the card in and powered my SUA750RM on. I connected a network cable but the card isn't working... there is just a very weak orange blinking light at the network-adapter, regardless if a cable is connected or not.
Here is the video of this issue (hope it is clear what I mean):

Does it mean my card is damaged and dead?
Thanks in advance!

Unless the item was listed using one of the "not working" categories like "as is", "for parts", "not working", eBay normally provides a money back guarantee even if the seller does not accept returns. Here in the US, it reads like this:
Seller does not offer returns. |
Money Back Guarantee Covered by eBay Money Back Guarantee | See details - opens in a new window or tab
Get the item you ordered or get your money back.
Covers your purchase price and original shipping. |

Hi Johannes,
I don't think I've ever seen this LED behavior before and my gut reaction would also be that maybe it is damaged.. What happens if you get a paperclip or similar sized device and press once and release the pinhole reset button? (Tip: hold the paperclip or similar towards the top of the pinhole for the best alignment with the switch behind the faceplate.). If no change, I do think there is something wrong with it.
If you can take a picture of the top of the board, we can also double check to see if any components look damaged or missing.
Can you also share the first six digits of the serial number? Something like 5A1234

Hi Angela,
thanks for your fast reply!
Here are two pictures of the card (front and back):
Yes I tried to push the reset button as you described, but nothing happens.

Hi Johannes,
Thanks for your just as fast reply
Unfortunately, I don't see anything obviously missing or damaged compared to one of my boards using your photos and as far as my naked eye can see. You can do a double check to see if you see any burned or missing components but it may be hard to tell because some stuff is purposely not populated..
In summary, based on the LED indication I saw on your video, I do think there is a problem with this NMC so I'd look to see if you're able to get a return or obtain a new one. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Are you able to see if there is still warranty on this card?
As I'm from germany what possibilities do I have then to get a replacement e.g.?
Thank you! 🙂

Hi Johannes,
It was manufactured in second half of 2014. Unless it was purchased "new" through an authorized reseller via eBay like NewEgg (which likely wouldn't still be selling 2014 cards), then unfortunately there wouldn't be a warranty regardless of the serial number. I had assumed you bought it used from another individual and in that case, I don't think the factory warranty (if any left) transfers per our warranty policy. (I am in the USA but pretty sure it is the same for Germany and other EMEA countries if you double check the warranty statement at the end of the user's guide.)
Does the seller have a return policy by chance? I would think if they sold this to you as "working" even in an as-is sale or no warranty, you have a case to argue because it is not working and I can back that up.

I don't think that the reseller has such user-friendly return policies...
Well... I have to look for a new one then.
Thanks for your help!
