NMC AP9617

Has anybody else had any problems having configuring the AP9619 network management card - i have installed the APC Device IP configuration Wizard which recognises that there is an unconfigured card, i assign ip, subnet and default GW to the card and attempt to browse to the device. this fails everytime. If i run the APC network shutdown software, it too doesn't recognise that there is a network card that has has an address assigned to it.

if i run the config wizard again it will not find the netowrk card - i have to reset using the microswitch on the back of the card.

when i have attempted to config the card using the serial port, or hyperterm onto the card i receive nothing...

I have a rack mounted smart-UPS

p.s. i have installed 2 of these cards into similar UPS and always had issues with the wizard, it detects an unconfigured card, I assign IP, SN and GW but i am unable to browse to the device. The previous 2 configurations have eventually worked, i can't remember what i did to get the wizard, the network management card and the UPS configured correctly.

Hi BMF

I've once encountered the similar issue as you did but I was at least able to communicate via serial.

what I did:

- Configure a basic subnet for PC. IP: 192.168.1.1 Subnet: 255.255.255.0
- Use IP Config Wizard to discover and configure an ip of same subnet (eg. 192.168.1.100)
- Login to NMC via HTTP and then change to your prefered IP.

I still prefer using serial. If you have complication with serial make sure no application is loking up your com port (eg. PowerChute)

I've hard reset the NMC using the microswitch, i then connected using hyper terminal, configuration was simple. i'd wanted to avoid doing this as it mean't attending site rather than completing config remotely

don't think i'll be using the wizard in a hurry...

thing that confuses me is that 3 out of 3 network cards i've installed have all had similar issues, IP configuration wizard only appears to do half a job?!

the previous 2 cards i've installed i've managed to fudge it using just the wizard and the network shutdown software, unfortunately on this occasion i can't get the NMC configured and also seem to be unable to connect using the serial connection...

Hi:

What port settings are you using within HyperTerminal? Also what cable are you using?

You should be using either the 940-0024 or 940-1524 cables, and using port settings 2400/8/n/1/n. Once you've done this and connected through HyperTerminal, hit enter a few times and you should get a Username prompt. Here you can enter in the username of apc and password of apc and you should be able to access the card and change your network settings from there.

Let us know if you have trouble!

Thanks
