Hi All,
Here is what I have. I have one Dell Poweredge server which has only one serial port. I have 2 Smart UPS 2200XL units that I need to manage. One is connected to my server via the serial connection, and the other unit is connected via the USB option. The server has dual power supplies and one is plugged into each UPS unit. I have the other network devices spread across the two UPS units as evenly as possible (13% load on one and 14% load on the other).
I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the agent to manage both UPS units. Right now it will only see the USB connected device and if I unplug that and run the setup again it will only see the device on COM1 and not both.
I really don't want to have to stick another computer there just to manage that UPS as it will draw more power and reduce runtime. I also don't want to have to purchase SNMP cards for the units either.
Is it possible to manage 2 UPS units (One COM and one USB) with the same agent on one machine?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi,
The software will only see one UPS at any point in time, per instance of Agent. You're not going to be able to control a shutdown for a dual power supply server on two UPS's without the NMC's and a custom installation of PowerChute Network Shutdown. And having another computer control your shutdown on one of the UPS's may result in an incomplete or hard shutdown.
