Hi,
we bought two Smart-UPS X 1500.
No we want to manage them from a host. I see that the devices will not work with apcupsd and nut?
Is there a powerchute package for debian/ubuntu?
I set up an fedora system to install the pbeagent-9.0.0-613.i386.rpm, but when I run config.sh it want a ttxSX connection, but I want instead USB, how did I set it up right?
Is there planed to support apcupsd or nut for this devices? This will be good,...
What we want to do is:
1. shutdown on powerlost
2. batterytest per cron
3. status per cron
Bye
Gregor

Unfortunately, the latest PCBE that we have will only support Serial communication on Linux based machines. These new UPS SMT/SMX are using our latest Microlink language which wouldn't work with APCUPSD and there is no plan yet to release this microlink language.

Jon P. - I don't think that is correct regarding apcupsd and Micro-link UPSs.
Per one of my posts here -> http://forums.apc.com/thread/5374?start=15&tstart=0 towards the end, I was told that there is a solution coming for apcupsd serial communication users this year that will make it work with apcupsd. I will follow up on the status of that.
My understanding is that apcupsd today with an SMX1500 via USB will provide graceful shutdown and provide some status information at least. There may be a little less information available than something like an SUA1500 but the critical information is there. For additional USB information beyond what is provided direct from the SMX1500, AP9620 legacy card has a USB on it which provides the additional USB info. Serial communications with apcupsd is where the problem was previously since apcupsd relies on the older UPS-Link communication protocol since micro-link is not released.
I think we have an article on SMX or SMT USB communications and I will post that if I find it.
grefabu - we can try to help further because I think there is something that will work for you either now or in the near future. Could you review my points above because you should be able to use apcupsd via USB with SMX1500. It'd be helpful also to know your UPS firmware versions if you can get them from the About menu on the LCD screen.

For those that are interested below are screenshots of the status display from APCUPSD running on Mac OSX attached to SMT750
You will see that some data is missing - not available when connect directly to the UPS but most is. If the missing data is needed it can be accessed via the AP9620 add on card or via the LCD panel on the UPS.
