i have a smart UPS VT 30 kva and a smart UPS VT 40kva. These UPSs develop overload alarms at different times but only for a minute or less. on the 30kva, i noticed that when its got an overload alarm, the input and output current both rises. The 40kva gets overloaded on line 3 of the 3phases. Has anyone experience this? i feel the overload is not genuine.
Secondly, i need battery modules for symmetra power array 16kva. But is it possible to just change the cells inside the module and re-use the housing? i can easily get the 7.2ah batteries locally.
This is what i got yesterday but only for a few seconds.

Hi Katongo,
These questions are completely different and relate to different UPSs so in the future, I'd suggest creating a separate thread for the different topics.
1.) It would be helpful to see the event.txt, data.txt, and config.ini logs from the Network Management Card in the UPS to see what is going on. (Instructions on downloading here -> http://www.apc.com/support/index?page=content&country=ITB〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA156131 ) Why do you feel the overload is not genuine? What is the type of load on the UPS - servers, networking equipment, or other?
2.) By design, you are supposed to replace the entire battery module, part number SYBATT, for the Symmetra power array. We do not support changing the internal battery modules in that part and will not provide any wiring diagrams or anything like that to assist you as this would also be a liability if something went wrong. People do indeed do this at their own risk and you can attempt it but you'd be on your own to get this done. I am not sure if in this UPS there is any intelligence that would need to be reset but I don't think so (unlike the SYBT5 which has an EEPROM). There could be other unforeseen complications to doing this too such as damaging the UPS or the plastic case too so I can't condone it. The official answer would be to purchase the SYBATT module.
