Launching a custom batch script when the battery capacity gets low
I have got a "Back-UPS BR 900GI" UPS connected to my computer with an USB cabel. I need to be able to launch a custom batch script in case of a power cut when the capacity of the UPS battery gets under a certain value. They told me that only the Personal edition of the PowerChute software is compatible with my UPS and that it is unable to launch scripts.
Is there any way I could achieve that goal ? I would prefer a library or something that I could use in a java application to read the state of the UPS. Then I could create a daemon to monitor the status and launch the scripts myself.

Dusan,
If you are using a Microsoft based Operating System you can use the Native USB solutions of Windows, I have seen this to be available on XP, 2000 and 2003. To access this, open up the Control Panel>Power Options>Alarms tab. From there you can click on Alarm Action and then Run a program.
