Is an Embedded NMC replaceable?
We have an SRT8KRMXLT 8kVA UPS. It came with an embedded Network Management Card identified as a AP9537SUM in the GUI. It is an NMC2 which is going out of support at the end of this year.
Is it possible to replace this with a NMC3 even if we have to shut it down? Or add an NMC3 to what appears to be a SmartSlot?
Our researching seems to imply neither is an option, which would mean having to replace the whole UPS just to get off of the NMC2, which seems crazy.

I’ve never seen or heard of an embedded NMC being replaceable on the newer UPS. The only embedded NMC that were advertised as replaceable are in some RPDU’s.
If you have a NMC available you can validate if the Smart Slot will accept and see the AP9630, 31 / AP9640, 41.
You have a 50/50 chance in this endeavour as some units see the Smart Slot as a slave vs master and is intended for auxiliary devices like environmental sensors, dry contact, expansion modules.
Normally a person could rely on the companies website as to what’s available and supported in terms of accessories but APC / Schneider go out of their way to not publish relevant information as this. 🤦♂️
Give it a try and report back the results as I’m sure the information will help the next person asking the same.
