Hello,
Power Chute Personal Edition 3.0.2 tray bar icon always show a Warning symbol and the message "Internal Communication Fault".
The error message seems to be slightly different to the one addressed in the troubleshooting section in the manual. (I tried all the steps anyway without solution).
If i try to perform a Self-Test, it is unable to carry out the self-test. But all other current status readings seem to be working fine.
My model is BX800CI-AS and running a Windows 8 PC.
Anything more I could do?
Thanks

Hi,
We have a few questions.
1. Did PCPE shutdown PC gracefully when the "internal communication fault" was reported?
2. What is the frequency of "internal communication fault" ?
3. Is the input utility of UPS still ok (not go to on-battery discharge) at that time?
4. Please attach a screenshot of PCPE technical data page.

If it were me, i would turn your computer off and anything else attached to the UPS and then remove the USB cable from the computer. After that, I'd go ahead and reboot/reset the UPS and see if it clears. To do that, turn the UPS off itself and unplug it from AC power. Once you do that, disconnect the battery and hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds. Reconnect the battery and reconnect the UPS to AC power. You can reconnect your USB cable to your computer and turn the UPS back on and then your computer and see if any change.

Hi Angela,
I have the same problem using PowerChute Personal 3.0.2 and BX1100CI-GR product.
PowerChute writes the following error message to Windows Event log, then shuts down the PC. It also cuts the power on all outputs, which terminates all other devices connected to UPS improperly.
UPS has been replaced under warranty, but the new (replacement) product also provides the same error. This issue is very annoying and can destroy devices connected to UPS.

Hi,
PowerChute will only log and react to events that the Back-UPS is reporting. When you replaced the Back-UPS was the communication cable replace?
I suggest uninstalling PowerChute, powering down all equipment, brain dead the UPS (see Kbase FA158947 ), Power up the UPS, power up the PC, reinstall PowerChute and check for the error.
