Hi
I am trying to figure out how to install Powerchute Network Shutdown on our ESXi environment. I have read the documentation for installing PowerChute using vMA and have installed the vMA virtual machine on the cluster. The only documentation I have found is installing Powerchute in a one server environment. As I understand it PowerChute is installed on the vMA machine and not on the ESXi host. When a power failure occurs the UPS sends a signal to PowerChute on the vMA which then sends a shutdown command the the ESXi host configured by powerchute. This is how our environment is setup.
1 Cluster containing 4 ESXi 4.1.0 servers. 2 servers plugged into 1 UPS 2 into an other. vMA is running on the cluster and is vMotion between the hosts.
Does this mean that I need to have 4 instances on vMA running (one per host)?
Thanks for your help with this.

Hi Tom,
On the last 2 pages of this [ESXi-PCNS 3 installaton.pdf |http://nam-en.apc.com/ci/fattach/get/882581/] it tells something about adding additional host to the server list. Can you try this?

I still can't get this to work in the way I'd like it to.
We have 4 ESXi hosts in the cluster 2 connected to one UPS and the other 2 connected to the other UPS. What I would like to happen is if 1 UPS goes onto battery only the connected hosts Shutdown.
I don't seem to be able to do that using the vMA.
Any ideas?
