Hi All,
I am new to this Forum.
I just have a query about the effects of input voltage to the UPS.
We have a SMT1000i Smart UPS in one of our offices. Currently, the power is not stable in the location where the voltage is going down and returning to normal immediately as well as power fluctuation.
For the past couple of weeks, we have experienced this more frequent than usual. Just 2 days after it started, i have checked the runtime of the batteries at 100% charged to 1hr and 14min with 13.6% load.
Today, when I checked while having a low input voltage, the battery runtime became 18min with 100% charged and the same load.
Question:
Does the input voltage affect the performance of the battery runtime?
Thanks,
Glenn

Hi Glenn,
No the input does not impact the batteries performance, however if the input goes too low it will cause the UPS to switch to battery power. What's probably happened is this UPS was not calibrated and when the power went out (or voltage dropped) the unit was able to calibrate more accurately.

The rate of unwanted chemical reactions which cause internal current leakage between the positive and negative electrodes of the cell, like all chemical reactions, increases with temperature thus increasing the battery self discharge rate prepaidcardstatus.com
