IBM 750t Branded UPS - Battery Replacement

Hi,
I've got an IBM branded UPS which I am assuming is an APC. The UPS says:

IBM UPS 750T, I think the full model is IBM 750T LV

IBM's model number seems to be 21301TX.

My replace battery light is on. I am having much difficulty with IBM locating the a battery replacement. Can anyone help me out on which battery this unit requires.

Thanks,
Aaron

I have one of these units, but am in the Antipodes so ready access to Big Blue is a challenge. Can you give me a way of determining whether I have a 1000 or a 750 APC chassis?

I came across this thread a month ago while looking for the same battery. The advice is incorrect, and I finally remembered to update the topic to help others who may Google their way here.

Externally the IBM 750T is not the same as the APC SUA750, nor is the battery inside. The battery used is the equivalent of a [RBC6|http://www.apcc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=RBC6&fnl=3944]. The two cells are 12V, 12A units, with IBM shipping GS Portalac PE12V12 batteries.

Be careful with replacing these, as some vendors offer slightly over-length cells -- as I learned the hard way. Some vendors specify cells that are 6.04 inches in length. These do not fit. (Actually they do after sufficient shoving and pounding. Getting them out again is another matter.) You want cells that are 5.95 inches (151mm) in length. You also need to pry loose the fuse connecting the two cells for use with the replacement battery. If you feel brave, the batteries can be hot-swapped.

You're right - some of the older IBM 750 models (late 2004-early 2005) actually have the SUA1000 chassis, which takes an RBC6. Most have the SUA750 chassis, which takes the RBC48. You can double check the serial number with the APC IBM hotline (800-788-9088) to verify which chassis, and battery, you have.

This unit is equivalent to the SUA750, which takes replacement battery [RBC48|http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=RBC48].
