I am not sure what you're referring to. The UPSs themselves usually have some type of intelligent battery management built in unless otherwise specified. Otherwise, you can treat the batteries like any other lead acid battery and measure them with a voltmeter or even depending on the type, use the APC Battery Management System (AP9921X).

If you want more information, please specify the types of batteries you're referring to, the UPSs you have and manage, and the problems that you're looking to analyze.

I gather you are looking for a hand-held battery cell tester ...to measure impedance and do load checks ? I have heard the Alber models are very good but a bit pricey. I personally use a B&K 601 which is good for quick tests on 6 V or 12 V cells.
