How to set up PowerChute BE software properly for the first time?

Hi everyone,

Our small company uses Windows Small Business Server 2008 (64-bit) and the UPS we're using is the IBM 1500T (FRU #21305TX), which use APC's PowerChute Business Edition software. I've just downloaded the latest PowerChute BE software (v9.1.1), installed the PowerChute BE Agent and Server softwares in the server machine, but things not going so smooth:

  • Whenever I try to open the Agent Web Interface, the IE tells me of an add-on installer security warning: "security_applet/ can't be installed because of unknown publisher". I've tried everything, from customizing the IE's settings for ActiveX, but I still can't get into the Agent Web Interface.
  • I launch the Device List Wizard software, input the correct IP Segment which is used in our network, but still it can't find the UPS.

How exactly do I have to do to deploy the PowerChute BE softwares in the server machine?

Thanks in advance for your help, appreciate it.

Hi Bill,

I'm using the IE 8 on our Win SBS 2008 64-bit, its security settings are all set to standard. Everytime I entered username and password, nothing happen, the IE 8 status bar shows script error or something like that.

What I really wish to know is how to login to the PowerChute Business Agent? It's asking for username and password although this is the first time I install it, I've already set-up username and password for PowerChute BE Server (Device List and Wizard) though...

Hi,

What version of IE are you running and have you tried to log into the web page using either Firefox or Chrome? I have IE 9 on my system with Security set to Medium High and do not have any issues logging into the PowerChute Agent.
