Problem running script at shutdown with PowerChute Network Shutdown

@bill P.

I have some problem with running script at shutdown ('configure shutdown' section). Everything looks fine, path to file is correct, script duration 40s, but script doesn't start (during normal shutdown and quick 10s shutdown too). Even cmdfile.log is empty. Script is really simple: creates file for another app and after few seconds deletes it. Any advice?

btw, maybe you can write more about options in pcnsconfig.ini dedicated for multiple critical events ?

thanks!

Joe,

You do not need to configure the On Battery event in PowerChute and you should leave multiple critical event enabled in the .ini file. That way when one UPS hits low battery PCNS will wait for the second UPS to reach low battery before starting the OS shutdown.

Concerning the script not running, have you reviewed knowledge base document FA159586.

As for pcnsconfig.ini there is a PDF attached to knowledge base FA159757 that discusses the settings / options.

Dear Bill,

My name is Joe Tam from Hong Kong . I have a question about APC UPS, please help. Customer has a request using APC UPS3000 with NMC and power chute network shutdown .

When one UPS turn off, second UPS are starting to un-plug external power.

Server shall be shutdown only when second UPS unit hit the low-battery threshold

For the requirement condition, if we disable the multiple critical event function, I cannot trace for both UPS critical alert, the requirement will not capable to handle.

My idea is that can I remain the multiple critical event function enable, but ignore On-battery as a critical event. Thus: the 1st "UPS turn off" is the critical event, and when 2nd UPS go for low battery, it will

cause multiple event to shutdown server. If it is possible, how to

ignore "On-battery" as a critical event and is it the best solution for requirement?

Joe Tam
