Two days ago, I accidentally switch to bypass manually. The Smart RT 6000 turned off. I quickly knew what I had done so I switch it back to Normal and turned on the UPS. Now I finally had a chance to configure the Network Management Card. Upon logging into the browser, the home page displayed 1 warning event - Power Failure. I setup the email notification and every 2 minutes, I get a warning alert. Warning - UPS: On battery power in response to an input power problem. Where do I start to troubleshoot this issue to eliminate the warning? Thank you in advance.

sorry. the firmware version i meant/was looking for is the APP and AOS. APP name is sumx and there should be something like 3.5.8 and AOS something similar to 3.6.1.
i believe this is an issue with the management card only.
lets log into the web interface on the management card and go to the Administration menu->General->Reset/Reboot->Reboot Management Interface.
this will reboot the management interface of the network management card and will not affect the UPS output.
let me know how that happens and if the message clears. thanks!

can you post the entire event log?
was the current status of the UPS a power failure? or was that happening when you went to bypass? i am confused on whats actually happening. if there really is a power outage or voltage is out of range and you go to bypass, the UPS will turn off since bypass means the UPS is passing utility power straight through with no battery back up.

Sorry, I forgot to answer your other question. The power failure was caused by switching it to bypass mode. Upon returning it to normal mode. I powered on the UPS. Thanks

ok this is interesting. its saying its on battery but the battery percentage is 100%. the event log looks a little screwy too as far as reporting the output power turning on and off.
a couple questions:
1.) has the output actually been turning on and off as far as you know pertaining to those events showing in the log? (besides when you went to bypass - the load dropped right?)
2.) can you tell me the firmware versions on the network card under Administration->General->About?
3.) can you see what indicators are illuminated on the front of the UPS? i have attached a picture of the front display and LEDs.
4.) can you get the data log too just incase?
5.) i wanted to go to bypass at some point and reseat the network management card and then come back out of bypass depending on what your answers are to the above questions but it could drop the load if you said going to bypass did earlier.

Answers:
1.) The UPS only has shutdown once as far as I know. It's on 02/16/2000 (actual date 06/15/2009). This is when I moved the switch from normal to bypass by accident. However on 02/08/2000 (actual date 06/08/2009), the APC receptacles in the back tripped shutting down all the servers. But the APC was still up and running with 100% battery but with zero load. I have attached receptacles.jpg. The farthest black cord on the right is a PDU with a server, tape loader, and switches. It was plugged into the first set of receptacles on the upper left. The left receptacle already had another PDU plugged in with 5 servers, and a switch. It overloaded that left receptacle so I had to press the white button to bring it back on line. I then switch one PDU to another receptable as pictured. So as far as I know the APC has only shutdown once.
2.) The firmware version of the network management card is A10 with a manufactured date of 11/09/08.
3.) See above
4.) See attach bezel.jpg. Battery is at 100% (5 LED). Load is 40% (2 LED). It is currently running on power source.
Thanks for your help.

Sorry for my ignorance. But what menu options do I select to upgrade the firmware on the Network Management Card? Will this affect the UPS in terms of rebooting? Do you recommend upgrading it after office hours? Thank You.

you dont need to do anything on the management card end.
to run the firmware upgrade, just download the file i attached which extracts some .bin files and includes a batch file that you execute that will prompt you for the IP address of the network management card to upgrade and the username/password, etc. it is a little wizard that will do everything for you.
the upgrade will NOT affect the UPS load or anything like that, it will only reboot the management interface just like you did to clear up the prior issue so you can do this during office hours if you'd like 😉
