How to properly configure servers and storage array shutdown during power loss for SRT8KRMXLI

Hello!
As far as I understand, to turn off the servers I need to install and configure PS Network Shutdown on each of the servers. But there is no way to turn off the power of storage arrays. On the other hand, PS Business Edition  can turn off outlets with a load for any event. Therefore, I installed PS Business Edition on one server connected to a USB cable to UPS. However, I ran into some problems. I suspect that the problems are caused by the simultaneous connection to the network management card by the network, and by USB. If such a configuration is not functional, can I install an second control board in an empty slot? Is this the right way?

Hi,

I have a few more questions.

  1. What is the available UPS runtime when all servers and the array are power on?
  2. Does the storage array need to be powered off cleanly or can it be turned off by pressing the power button?
  3. If it needs to be powered off cleanly can it be power off prior to all servers powering down or after all server have powered down?
  4. Will the storage array accept SSH command?
  5. Does it have a built in shutdown app that will listen to USB?

Hi,

I suggest you only use PowerChute Network Shutdown.

  1. How many servers are plugged into the UPS?
  2. What outlet group is each server plugged into?
  3. What outlet group is the storage array plugged into.
  4. What version of PowerChute Network Shutdown are you installing?
  5. What model network card is installed in the SRT?
  6. What version firmware is installed on the network card?
  7. When the UPS switches to battery do you want the shutdown started after the UPS runs on battery for x minutes or do you want the shutdown to start when the runtime remaining is x minutes?
