Hello.
I'm planning a new ups solution for our 2 node hyperconverged vSAN 6.6 cluster on vSphere 6.5 (HA enabled).
Can PCNS gracefully shutdown vSAN cluster? The recommended sequence is disable HA, shut down VM's except vCenter, shutdown vCenter, place ESXi into into maintenance, shutdown ESXi. And do I need any special PCNS licence?
Thank for you reply.

Hi,
PowerChute Network Shutdown does support ESXi and vSAN Cluster. However, PowerChute does not support installation on a host that is part of a vSAN enabled cluster. In a configuration that includes a vSAN enabled cluster, PowerChute must be installed on a physical machine, or on a host that is not part of the vSAN enabled cluster.
When PowerChute starts a maintenance mode task via vSphere API it does not pass any arguments for vSAN data migration option. Because of this the default option Ensure accessibility is used.
The shutdown sequence is different than you listed. How many UPS will be in use? There is a diagram of PowerChute in an Advanced setup with vSAN cluster listed on page 16 of Application Note 180.
As for license, there is no special license required.

Thanks for you reply.
Installation of PCNS on standalone host is not a problem.
We've got more third party UPS, but basic licence of bundled software doesn't shutdown vsan properly.
We also have one APC Smart-UPS RT 2000 so I'll give it a try.
