Are there any plans to support 1000BaseT on the network interfaces? We have a number of locations where the slowest interface in the telecomm room is gigabit and installing a 10/100/1000 switch to act as a media converter is overkill.

I don't know what APC's GigE plans are, but it would be quite unusual to find a switch with a RJ45 port that offered 1000 but not 100 or 10. Some switches can be explicitly configured to offer to autonegotiate only a subset of speeds, but that isn't the default configuration. I've also run into some iffy 10GbE implementations that claim to autonegotiate 10/100/1000/10000 but don't "get it right" with some devices. The Dell Powerconnect 8024 is one of these.
If your switches have SFP ports instead of RJ45 ports, things can get interesting. A number of those can only do 1000 and not 10/100, due to limitations in the underlying hardware (an SFP is basically a serial/serial interface converter). But as SFP ports tend to cost more than RJ45 ports, it might make sense in that case to remove a bunch of SFP-to-RJ45 modules and use a regular RJ45 switch instead.
What brand and model are your switches?
