Firmware upgrade failing for UPS 700 RM UPS'

Hello,

I'm attempting to upgrade the firmware on a handful of SmartUPS 700 RMs and it's failing to ftp the .bin file successfully. I've updated 10 Smart UPS 2200 devices, but for whatever reason, these 700s aren't being very receptive to my efforts.

I successfully used the upgrade utility to upgrade the 2200s - using the same utility, I get ftp file transfer problems with the 700s - as I also get when I attempt to manually ftp.

Are there any other remote methods for update these 700s, or perhaps something to look for?

Thanks,

Drew

Easy to overlook considering I never mentioned what card I had until the end -

Thank you much, the correct firmware did the trick.

Hello Erasmus,

Different subnets from my (the updating PC) - but then again, so were the 2200s.

Is it possible to update the firmware via tftp?

I assume you are referring to the NMC firmware upgrade? Are these 700s located on a different network subnet/segment or do they have any different network settings?

Keep in mind the firmware for the 2200 Smart-UPS is the same for the 700s. All Smart-UPS' use the same firmware for their NMCs.

not TFTP, only FTP.

you could try one via manual FTP, even though thats what the wizard does but it may work.

check [these instructions|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=8515]

I'm getting ready to throw this thing out the window.

It's a fairly standard AP9606 NMC and I've tried everything to try and update the firmware.

okay. Erasmus and I both overlooked the fact that you are using the older discontinued AP9606 web management card which does NOT work with the wizard/firmware that you are using. that is why you are running into these problems. the other management cards may have been our more current AP9617, AP9618, or AP9619 which use the newer firmware you are trying to flash the AP9606 with.

here is the link to the correct firmware for the AP9606 card: ftp://ftp.apc.com/apc/public/hardware/webcard/firmware/security/v326b/

you will HAVE to use the instructions for FTP that I gave you since there is no wizard. download the aos326b.bin file in that folder above and then choose the appropriate APP, which looks to be sumx326a.bin for your Smart UPS.

[here are the FTP instructions again|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=8515]

that should fix the issue.
