Fedora core 9 and Network Shutdown

We are a linux shop using primarily Fedora. The server systems are in racks with nice sized UPSs. Things were not working bad with Business Edition and running one of those port expanders and lots of cables. This stopped working with Core 8 and so APC recommended that I switch to network shut down. Got the cards and stuff. If I can get this working this will be an improvement. But that is the rub. It doesn't seem to work.

APC seems to have very little support for linux, Anyone got this working and can give me any clues on how to get it going?

Everything is open. It is definitely not a fire wall problem. It appears to be something to do with java, and I am betting on some kind of a library problem. What kind of appears is that it can't do anything network like. (Get the server name send and recieve packets)

PCNS 223 at this time does not officially support Fedora, and has also not been tested for it. APC has tested and does support use with Red Hat, SuSE, TurboLinux, Miracle Linux, Mac OSX, and VMWare.

As far as getting it running I would have to leave it up to our other APC forum members and customers to see if a workaround has been found.

Interesting. Those are all pretty old versions of the operating system that generally run about a year or more behind the development and security cycle. Any idea when APC might be supporting the modern versions?

What's the problem you're running into during install?

It appears to install properly, and startup properly. The problem is that it is not running properly. Specifically it can't get communications with the card. It also can't seem to figure out the name of the server.

Communication is over port 3052. This is commonly blocked by firewalls, switches, antivirus. Make sure this port is opened fully. Also port 80 is for shutdown signals, but is commonly open.
