Fan switching on 3-5 times a day?

Hi, does anyone know why the fan on my UPS keeps coming on??

It is doing it at least 3-5 times a day during working hours, probably outside these as well, so possibly 6/7 times a day!

Its a Smart-UPS 1000XL.

Any help appreciated

generally the fan comes on for that model when anyone of the following conditions are true:

• internal temp is above 104º
• UPS is on battery
• UPS is charging its battery
• load is above 75% of UPS's rated capacity

have you verified that any one of these is not true when the fan is on? do you have any logs from software or a network management card to look at? how old is the UPS?
