FW update failed Smart UPS SMT3000i / APC9630

Hi everyone,

Just need your help after a failed f/w update on my smart UPS SMT3000I with an APC9630 Card. I tried to update with the apc_hw05_aos688_sumx688_bootmon109.exe file. After the bootmon update, the software reboot the card to continue the update process... it's at this point that everything failed after.

I have looked for on forums some people with the same problem... some solved the problem with a "format" command and then a "reboot" one -> failed for me. Others applying update again -> failed for me, Updating via ftp... well, i can log in on the FTP, but i can't d/l or u/l a file -> failed again. Well, i'am feeling a little bit confused.

Hi RAMOINO,

So basically what is happening is that update is divided into three parts, the boot loader, operating system and the application, If your update is failing after the boot loader has been transferred then this is what you'll need to do to get back on track:

Extract the update and go into the folder "apc_hw05_aos688_sumx688_bootmon109", next go into the "Bins" folder

Now you will need to connect to the NMC using FTP, I recommend the WinSCP client.

Then you'll need to place apc_hw05_aos_688.bin in the root directory of the NMC

***This will cause the NMC to reboot

Next you'll need to copy apc_hw05_sumx_688.bin to the root directory,

****This will again cause the NMC to reboot

The device should now work as expected

Hi Gavan,

Just amazing. I had understood that the update process were in three parts, and i already try to u/l the aos file via ftp and it didn't work. I tried with filezilla and i always got some errors.

I used so WinSCP in FTP mode (SFTP didn't work) and all files were uploaded without any error et the card reboot two times. All is working right now !

Thank you,

Have a nice day,

Regards
