Execute a command file with PowerChute Network Shutdown program
Hi,
I'm using the PowerChute Network Shutdown program with a Smart-UPS 3000 and a AP9630 network card.
I've done the following configuration:
* In the PowerChute Network Shutdown (PCNS) -> Shutdown Settings -> Run Command:
Full Path to command file: D:\PWRFail.bat
Duration: 60 seconds
* In the PWRFail.bat file: (If I execute the file manually, works correctly)
@START C:\Windows\notepad.exe
* In the PowerChute Network Shutdown service:
Log On: I put a domain account.
When I make a Reboot of the UPS sending the signal to Shutdown to the clients, the server wait 60 seconds, then a message window appears to inform that the server will be shut down, and finally, the server is shut down, but the command file is never executed.
There's something more, or different, that I have to do to execute this BAT file using the PowerChute Network shutdown?
Thanks,

Hi,
That is discussed in Knowledge Base document FA159586
"PowerChute cannot execute programs that require interaction with the desktop; only command line enabled programs are supported e.g. if you try to launch Notepad it will fail."
This is a Microsoft requirement. They change security policies with the release of Vista on up that do not allow services to interact with the desktop. Here is a link to a Microsoft Knowledge Base document on the subject.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn653293(v=vs.85).aspx
If you want to test PowerChute's ability to run a command file use the test file listed in the Knowledge Base document.
