Hi,
Ive installed a AP9619 in a Smart UPS 1000XL 230V. The AP9619 has been used before and is configured with unknown username and password and also IP settings. The only thing i know is the MAC address. I have tried using the ARP address trick and it doesn't respond.
I don't have the original APC serial cable for the UPS. I tried using a random one laying around and the unit shut down on me.
Can the reset button on the management card be used to reset the settings on the card without using serial cable? For example can i press the reset button then use the static ARP ping method to reset the ip address and login from there?
Thanks.

To add some helpful tips, make sure that the serial port is not being used by any application such as PCBE if there's any. If you can see multiple COM ports on HyperTerminal please do try all those as well.
Another thing would be, removing the network management card on the UPS and then connect to your UPS using the cable that kulotz gave you before. Using HyperTerminal set it to 2400, 8, None, 1, None, XOn/XOff. Once you are connected kindly press Shift+Y and then Shift+A. Pressing Shift+Y, it should respond back with an "SM" message while Shift+A should make your UPS flash the LEDs and produce a beep sound.
Hope this helps.

Hello powermanz,
Unfortunately, to reset the username & password previously assigned to the AP9619, you'll need the 940-0024 or 1524 cable, just pressing the reset button won't reset the password and username for you. Please find the password reset procedure here]

no that can only be done by a reset to defaults command via the interface. reset button only reboots the NMC interface or resets the password temporarily as explained in the procedure.

Hi,
I plugged in a 940-0024 cable into the back of the UPS but there's is no response. I have tried all the usual baud rates etc.
Is it possible to use the usb port to configure it at all?

what are the usual baud rates you tried? can you confirm all settings you tried? i.e. what you put for flow control?
and no, you cannot use USB to communicate with the management card unfortunately.
